A Very Hectic Life!

So some of you may have noticed that I haven't been living up to my promise of posting once a week... but in my defence, taking care of a baby is very demanding work!!! So let me give you a brief overview of whats been happening in the last couple months.

We have started to give Tory solid food now and boy has it been interesting! She seems to be very fond of vegetables and just doesn't care for many fruits right now, she also loves to be in charge of holding her own food and of course wants anything and everything that Mommy and Daddy have! She has been unsure, excited, and VERY messy with all of the food we have given her so far but overall I think shes having a blast!

Tory is having her first bite of solid food! Those are carrots,
yummy yummy messy carrots!
Tory now has not one but three little teeth making an appearance! Teething has definitely been an experience for us, luckily it hasn't been too bad and has only kept us up a couple of nights! I think the Baltic Amber teething necklace we bought at E-Children that she wears has definitely helped!

This is a picture of us at the Canada Day parade
in Canmore, notice Tory's two teeth showing!
And finally, as some of you know we are cloth diapering Tory and let me tell you, it's not as bad as it sounds! The only thing I don't like about the cloth diapering experience is the stains that end up hanging around in the diapers. Now I initially had accepted them as par for the course but imagine my surprise when the wonderful ladies at Babes In Arms told me that I could sun bleach the diapers and it might get rid of the stains. Sun bleaching is when you lay your diapers in the sun and let the sun work its magic, and let me tell you it really is magic! After an hour and a half in the sun almost all of the diapers look brand new again! I was pleasantly surprised by this, and let me tell you, I will definitely be doing this again if any stains start to pop up again!

We hung the diapers on a clothes line at Grandmas house
and let them sit for an hour and a half!
So that's it for now! I will try to make a habit of posting more frequently!!! Until next time!

Our Story

So, lets rewind a little bit back to the beginning. Our story began when I met Chris on the eharmony dating website. Go figure! It wasn't long before we were making long distance trips to visit each other. I would fly out there, he might drive down here, or we would both drive to Edmonton to rendezvous. The pages of our story kept turning and we now find ourselves on what? Chapter 3?

We are a brand new happy family learning the ropes and making sense of merging our lives, personalities and annoying quirks (mostly his of course!) together.

Our newest page turner, suspense builder and late night can't put 'er downer, is Tory Claire! Tory was born on November 6 and we couldn't be more excited to have her here with us! Today Tory is 4 & 1/2 months old and weighs a whopping 15 lbs!

Now that the dust has settled we are working on writing more chapters that hopefully involve finding a routine and creating a healthy lifestyle full of adventure, love and wonder.

Hopefully you'll see me posting on a weekly basis, but with our emerging drama queen now taking center stage, you just never know....

Day One... Kind Of

Whew! I am so excited by all the twists, turns, and wonderful steps of becoming a first time parent! I had every intent on blogging from day one but I got so caught up in the whirlwind of events, that is being a parent, that I haven't had time to think let alone blog! So now that I've caught my breath it's finally time to... oh... wait... Tory is awake!!! I'll be back in a minute I'm sure!!!
